{sea turtle, as spotted by Chloe}
Aside from the lack of snow this winter, the other main glorious perk is the blue skies. Every day it seems. Usually winter here is white and gray everywhere. No relief from the endless blah. But not this year!
We all went out to play for a few hours after lunch, just to breathe some spring-smelling air and run around a bit. Todd played ball with the kids while I cleaned all the fallen sticks out of the yard. I only had to dodge the ball flying directly at my head four or five times.
Evan and Chloe played in their "car city" mud pit for a while, but Evan really just wanted to drive his rock crawler around.
There was a stream of sap running out of our tree where we trimmed a small branch in the fall. It made a sticky mess all over one of the swings, but the kids loved catching the sweet-tasting drips.
The sky was full of big fluffy clouds today so we watched them change shape with the wind (did I mention the biting wind??). We saw a headless crocodile, some fish and a horse.
We took the kids around the block on their scooters just to keep moving and amazingly Chloe made it the whole way around without asking us to carry hers because her legs were sore (after 3 minutes). She was even circling around in driveways like a pro. Much has changed in just a few months!
I'm still baffled that we are taking scooters out in February....
