It's just part of her show-horse costume for the day.

Random Snapshots
*This is Chloe's attempt at doing what her friend Grace does with a big exercise ball:
Not quite as smooth, but it will have to do :-)
*Evan laughs at pretty much everything. Loudly.
*New watercolor paints since our old ones are nearly gone.
*Evan painted a frog on his hand, then ran to wash it off "cuz it's COLD!!"
*Chloe was so dainty and careful with them.

*The big lego blocks reappeared as another barn for Chloe's horses.
She only builds barns, just like Evan only built towers.
*Evan can climb up to this high spot in the tree with no help.
Chloe needs a boost to the first split then climbs up to her perch.

The Twists
More fun with Chloe's hair. This time it's the twists instead of the braids!
I used to do these to my own hair when I was in sixth and seventh grade (my hair was about this long then) so it brought back all kinds of memories.
She really liked it and it was so much easier than french braids. Too bad it's not as durable as the braids -- it looked pretty ragged by mid-afternoon -- but overall it's still really cute!

Love For The Little Ones
Today was Yardsale Day.
We were up around 5am and worked till almost 5pm and even still aren't all the way done -- bags of things to be donated and a set of patio furniture that Todd is delivering right now at 8:30pm.
We are tired.
And our kids.... were incredible today!
My mom and (step)dad stopped by to hang out with them for the last half of the sale which was a huge blessing contributing to our sanity -- there were no sibling fights today!!! Simply amazing on a day with minimal parental attention. So we are feeling very thankful....
*For loving family members who just show up and love on our kids.
*For the empty space now found in our basement.
*For the giant stack of cash on our kitchen counter (nearly $800 we think).
*For ice cream to indulge in after a long, productive day.
......and of course....
*For the kids we love so much
We really do it for them, you know,
and sort of because of them and all the stuff we seem to acquire!

Beach Break
Todd and I have been busy this week preparing for the yard-sale tomorrow. The kids are not used to being ignored so much so their behavior was heading downhill fast. Evan had been bugging us since Sunday to go to the beach, so Wednesday after dinner we just up and went.

Maybe She Still Needs It
Her nap, that is.
After more than a month without any naptime, she and Evan had been fighting (as usual) and I had separated them for a bit. He went in on his bed and she was on the couch. I looked in from the kitchen while cooking dinner and she was zonked out. At 5 o'clock. She slept right through dinner and woke up at 6:15 pm with a little prodding. She was so sleepy.
Which leads us to consider these five reasons to start doing naps again:
1. she is so cranky some days
2. she doesn't fall asleep any earlier at night
3. she never sleeps in
4. she is super cute and precious like this....
and
5. we sure do miss the hours of quiet time it brings :-)

Todd Has Been Busy
Todd has been working diligently on house projects these past few months -- a few things like the front yard and the AC hookup he hired someone to do, but the rest have been all him.
Here are some of our new things -- excluding things like closet shelves which are only exciting to me.
Our vegetable garden is now growing tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, green beans and carrots.
Swings. I know you've seen these, but I am happy just looking at them.
The deck has new stairs!!!
On the other side too (since the old ones were too wide and therefore sagging).
The front yard is sprouting some "adorable tufts" according to Evan. (sorry about the really harsh lighting)
Our living room is now a delicious sandy tan color.
And here are the two most exciting ones showcasing Todd's carpentry skills:
The kids now have a loft bed!! We just put it up this morning.
It looks cute with the tent on it too -- Chloe has filled it in with "all kinds of accessories."
Evan's mattress is about four feet off the ground and low enough not to hit his head on the ceiling fan when he is on his knees. He loved decorating the safety railing with monkeys and bunny nests.
Todd is still building the ladder today in the garage, but kids are adaptable....
Chloe is happy to be safe and low to the ground surrounded by her favorite artwork, photos, stuffies, blankets and water bottle.
He also built a bed for us:
We have never liked our country-style bedroom set since the day we brought it home (it was sort of a 'this is the only one in our budget' type of decision) so we're selling it next weekend at the yardsale. This one has four huge drawers on both sides so we won't need a dresser anymore.
We're hoping our tiny bedrooms start to feel a whole lot bigger with these lovely handcrafted beauties :-) Isn't my husband so talented?
He loves crossing things off this list. And he should, after all, he's been working so hard!
Now that the beds are (almost) done, he'll be starting window wrap and after that, swapping our large old front window for a more energy-efficient one. Then he'll be on to the bathroom shower area, and maybe next summer we'll talk about new carpet!!
And for my next list:
(or as I like to call it -- things we talked about that we forgot to put on this list)
*painting bedrooms/bathroom/foyer
*replacing hallway lights x3
*vinyl siding
*going on vacation
