Outing with Gramma

Buzz'n Bees pet store was a new adventure for the kids courtesy of Gramma, who has been visiting this week.  There are all kinds of snakes, lizards, fish, birds and spiders to see up close.

They were on a hunt for a real chameleon and found this guy.

The friendly saleslady told the kids she couldn't take it out because it gets nervous, but then later that day when they ran off to bid it farewell, she surprised them by getting it out.  Evan said it turned brown right away because it was mad.  They pet it briefly and she put it back so it could turn green again.  I wish I had known all that was going on a few aisles over so I could have gotten some pictures, but it sure made in imprint on the kids' memory :-)


There were so many favorites. 

Chloe wandered up and down the aquariums admiring the beautiful rainbow stones in each tank.
Evan was in love with the finches along the bird aisle. 
Chloe admired each tarantula and lizard as a mother would her new baby. 
Evan adored the rats, big and small -- he repeatedly said they were sooooo cute!


But a beautiful cockatoo stole the show and this is where we spent the next half hour.

Evan watched Todd try holding it and reached right out for a turn.

Chloe surprised me with how calmly she handled holding a very heavy (for her) bird, giggling happy nervous giggles while it gripped her arm.

 It liked Evan's hair.

and Chloe's sparkly sleeves.

and Todd's ears, but I have no pictures of that.... darn.

This place was amazing and we certainly will never forget it :-)
