Chloe is reading:

*Blueberries for Sal by Robert McCloskey -- I wonder if this will be the last time we check this book out of the library.... Chloe has moved on to so many other bigger kid books, but this was a favorite for so long.  It makes me smile that she still picks it.
*The Hoppameleon by Harry Robins
*Billy and Blaze stories by C.W. Anderson -- Boys and their horse adventures.  These were some of Evan's favorites from years ago.
*Wee Gillis by Munro Leaf -- Some books should always be read by dads.  This one is best with a thick scottish accent :-)
*Watch Out! Big Bro is Coming by Jez Alborough

*The Cranky Day by Rev. Awdry -- Again with wondering..... when she will lose interest in Thomas the tank engine....
*A House for Hermit Crab by Eric Carle -- I'm not really a fan of this author, but this book is cute and since we just saw a real one at the pet store recently, it sparked some interest.
*A Color of His Own by Leo Lionni -- A totally inaccurate portrayal of a chameleon, but Chloe loves all the colors and patterns.

She is interested in:

*chameleons
*caterpillars
*tracing and painting horses
*cutting out snowflakes
*seashells
*sharks
*animal tongues :-) -- we actually found a book on this too!
*do I even need to keep writing horses on this list..... ???

Evan is reading:

*Farmer Boy by Laura Ingalls Wilder -- We have read this twice before.  This time he is totally relating to the very hungry main character....  Evan often quotes to me: "Almanzo was bored.  He began to be hungry."

*Magic School Bus on the Ocean Floor by Joanna Cole 

*The True Story of Pocahontas by Lucille Penner -- Evan was horrified that the Disney book that he also has is not accurate. Leave it to Walt Disney to inspire this kid to search for truth. 

*Star Wars (novelizations of the original three movies) for the third or fourth time with Todd who is completely awesome with the voices.

*Stellaluna by Janell Cannon
*The Wizard of Oz by Frank Baum -- We haven't started this yet, butI got it since he likes fairy tales and this sort of reminds me of one with the witches and magic and stuff.  I'm still going to pre-read it to make sure.

He is interested in:

*military vehicles -- tanks, planes, carriers...
*building Star Wars stuff with Legos
*Disney movies in book form (since we don't watch them) -- his latest ones are "Aladdin," "Pocahontas" and "Up"
*chameleons
*tracing pictures of trucks and cars
*origami animals

I am reading:


*Don't Sweat the Small Stuff... and It's All Small Stuff by Richard Carlson
*Eating Well In Season by Jessie Price
*Simply In Season by MaryBeth Lind
*A Million Miles in a Thousand Years by Donald Miller
*Unconditional Parenting by Alfie Kohn

These are all fantastic books, some of my favorites all summer.  I cannot say enough good about "Unconditional Parenting" -- I actually had this for 6 weeks and then checked it out again for my next 6 week study.  It's that good.
