Every day Chloe draws stuff. She's always on the floor with a stack of paper and a box of pencils or markers. As you know, she loves to make her own books that read sort of like comic strips. She has a few characters that have developed over time and her 'animation' of them gets better with practice. She told me she never plans her stories but just starts drawing and keeps going till it ends.
Here's a book she did recently, showcasing her favorite cats (Tom and Rachel) and dogs (Rose and Buster). Making an appearance also are the bird (Flitter) and a squirrel (Skit).
Because she doesn't fluently read or write yet she uses a lot of initials for things.
Let's begin.
The cats and dogs are neighbors but a fence separates their spaces. The bird and squirrel who had originally been lured to the premises (in previous stories) to be trapped have since taken up residence. Food dishes are always available.
The main characters are presented and their faces tell the story. The bird has a plan which the dogs are never happy about. The cats don't know the plan but they are on the bird's team.
Christmas arrives and Flit the bird has delivered an enormous gift to all. They are stunned. They all pitched in and got Flit something really small.
Present opening commences revealing a Jeep! The squirrel is stupefied and faints. Flit has received a new bird-feeder. Although things seem unfair they are all very happy.
Turns out this Christmas has made them all realize they love each other and want to do away with the fence. Cohabitation begins. The bird puts his old bird-feeder up for sale (F.S.) because it has chipped paint and a broken off hook.
The Jeep is parked in the yard. The end.
